Canopy

Canopy is a blockchain-based forest registry platform built to make forest ownership and environmental verification more transparent and trustworthy. It allows users to register forest areas on-chain with details such as geographic boundaries, area measurements, and ownership information, creating a permanent and tamper-resistant record. By combining decentralized records with real-world geospatial data, Canopy bridges the gap between Web3 infrastructure and environmental monitoring. What makes the project especially interesting is its use of satellite imagery and NDVI analysis to verify forest health. The platform uses Google Earth Engine and Sentinel-2 imagery to compute vegetation indices, giving users a scientific way to assess forest coverage and condition. With a full-stack architecture that includes a React frontend, Node.js and Express backend, FastAPI-based Python service, PostgreSQL database, and Solidity smart contracts, Canopy demonstrates strong integration across blockchain, remote sensing, and modern web development.
